Weekly Update—9/8/2009

This week:

• Wednesday September 9—Wednesday Night Youth:
  • 5:45 PM- Pizza Dinner
  • 6-7:15- Confirmation (7-8th grade)
  • 6:30-7:30- Chimes Choir Practice
  • 7:30-8:30- Reconfirmation (High School
• Friday September 11-Sunday September 13—Confirmation Retreat at Sky Ranch.  Meet at the church at 6 PM.  We will eat dinner around 8 when we reach Sky Ranch so it might be wise to have a snack before meeting at the church. We will return Sunday at noon. 
• Sunday September 13, Sunday school will hear an overview of Pastor Wendy’s new book.

• Sunday September 20, 9:15 AM—Sexuality Sunday School class begins.
• Sunday September 20, 6 PM-8 PM—Inner Mission at the Bengtson’s House.  This semester we will use Inner Mission to develop spiritual formation groups around the practice of prayer. 
• Wednesday September 23—Wednesday Night Youth
• Saturday September 26, 8 AM-2 PM—Service Saturday.  We sill go back to Mike Purkiss’ neighbor’s house to finish the work we started this summer.  Pack a lunch. 
• Sunday September 27, 9:15 AM—Sexuality Sunday School
• Wednesday September 30—Wednesday Night Youth

• Sunday September 6, 9:15 AM—Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser.  Current 6-12th graders are welcome to come and raise money for the next summer’s mission trip.  Youth need to be here at 8 AM to cook.

• Sunday August 30, 12-2 PM—Sexuality Class Parents Meeting. Starting September 20 the youth will begin a Sunday school class on relationships and sex. This meeting will preview this class for parents, outline our topics, and allow parents to ask questions and review the curriculum. Lunch Served.

• Matt is out of the office this week.  He is at the ELCA Churchwide Assembly.  Intern is still on duty though if you need anything.

• Saturday August 15, 11 AM—Clyde Newman’s Memorial Service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church.  Clyde pasted away yesterday morning.  Come to celebrate Clyde’s life and support Carol.

• Sunday August 16, There will be a sign-up sheet on the board outside the youth room for the Talent Show during the Lock-In on August 21.  So please sign up!
• Sunday August 16, 12-2 PM—Mandatory Confirmation Meeting. For all parents and their children who will be participating in Confirmation this year. Lunch will be served.

• Thursday, July 23- Saturday, July 25 — The Peer Ministry Retreat at the Harr’s Ranch! Costs $10 per person.  Meet at the church on Thursday at 3 PM, be back 3 PM Saturday.   
• Sunday July 26, 9:15 AM—Sunday School
• Sunday July 26, After 10:30 service—Youth Praise Team Practice, lunch will be served

Coming Up:

• Tuesday, July 28, 11-1 PM —Summer Feeding Program. Every Tuesday we will volunteer at High Pointe Elementary as part of Child’s summer feeding program. We will leave the church promptly at 11 AM and return at 1 PM. Anyone age 18 or older must have a background check badge with CHISD. Open to all youth.  However, Jr. High students must be accompanied by a parent.  Please contact Matt even if you’re only able to help a few times this summer.
